Substance Abuse Prevention
Specialist Training
(SAPST)

The Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council (GSSAC) works closely with The Prevention Specialist Certification Board (PSCBW) to promote substance abuse prevention and to create healthy and drug free communities.

The PSCBW will host at least three Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Trainings in the Spring of 2011. This training, developed by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) and the Western CAPT (Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies), provides a thorough overview of the prevention field and gives participants the knowledge and tools to build effective programs.  Participants in this training will explore a variety of issues related to prevention including the Risk/Protective Factor model, program planning, evaluation and more.  Through this training, participants and agencies will gain the ability to enhance their efforts and design prevention programs that will create real, long term results.

The dates and locations for the 2011 Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Trainings are:

King County:  April 12–15

Pierce County:  May 13–14, and May 20–21
